ChatterPix is an amazing way to welcome students. When using this resource, I was intrigued on how well the video had come out! If I were in a student’s shoes, I would be fascinated by the resource. The teacher would have my full attention.Throughout my years of teaching, I would love to use this resource for Grades Kindergarten to 1st. I mention only Kindergarten to 1st grade because I feel that this resource may not meet the “entertainment” standards for higher grades. This can be because of recent technology. I would most likely use this resource when welcoming students to the class or when introducing new lessons. When introducing lessons to students, it's good for them to understand what they will be focusing on. If a student isn't engaged in the introduction of the lesson, then they will already be lost or confused when they partake in the activities.

Fakebook’s effectiveness can fluctuate depending on how the tool/resource would be used. For example: By using this tool/resource, the students will successfully complete relevant learning objectives . The previous phrase can either be true or false depending on how the teacher uses Fakebook to teach their lesson. Fakebook can be efficient by allowing students to save time researching topics. It also allows students to engage/apply their knowledge in a real-world context. I would use this tool to either introduce or broaden a topic. For example: After introducing the topic to the class, I may proceed by allowing the class to explore the Fakebook. This example would reflect on 2 of the 4 E’s: Engagement and Enhancement. Enhancement is applied by allowing the students to use a social media template as an educational resource. Also, by applying a resource that students are familiar with (i.e. Instagram or TikTok), it will encourage students to stay engaged.

This tool’s effectiveness towards a class is very high. When assessing the tool, all boxes labeled under effectiveness were checked off. This tells an educator that this tool is really known to help students understand a certain topic. The efficiency of this tool is low. The amount of time building a lesson is just as much time building a study set by Quizizz. The only factor this tool plays within efficiency is by being able to use public study sets. Even though the previous example does save time, many study sets may not fit exactly what you want your study set to look like. The tool also provides little enhancement. Many of what Quizizz provides, can also be done on paper. The amount of engagement Quizizz provides is high. By inserting points into the lessons, students will use friendly-competition to reach the highest rank, while aiming to choose the right answer.  As a future educator and after analyzing Quizizz, I would use this tool to either introduce or review a topic. I can even use this tool as a way to better understand my students based on how they perform on the study set.

Smore is an amazing tool that I would find useful to update parent(s)/guardian(s) on what their student(s) are learning. The effectiveness of this tool is high due to students being able to apply their previous knowledge on a certain topic. For example: an educator could use Smore as a way to provide a list of information on a certain topic they may discuss in future class discussions. The efficiency of this tool is also high due to the educator saving time by providing resources on a newsletter for students to have access too. Smore enhances learning by allowing students to compare their learning in a real-world context. For example: Smore is set up as a newsletter, which allows kids to experience reading educational information in a more “adult” perspective. An educator could use Smore as an engaging way for students to learn about a certain topic by providing images of the topic, or attaching videos for students to watch.

Wakelet is a wonderful resource to use within 5 - 12th grade classes. As a future elementary educator, I believe this tool may be too complicated to use for smaller grades such as k-4th grade. This tool carries effectiveness within a class by providing the class with more knowledge on a certain topic that many students may carry previous knowledge on. This tool is efficient because it saves time on the students and teachers part when preparing or discovering a new topic. For example, a teacher is able to save time with students doing their own research by providing resources for the students to have access to on Wakelet. This tool provides enhancement within a classroom setting by providing a way for students to access information on a topic that would be hard to access without technology. Depending on what resources the teacher provides for their students, this tool may lack the amount of engagement by students. For example, unless a student prefers to read, many students may find it difficult to engage within a wakelet that may only provide articles.

Being able to use wakelet within my asynchronous lesson may be a little challenging due to me focusing on a 3rd grade level. I will try to include as many illustrations and videos as I can, and reduce the amount of typing due to children still in the midst of learning to read.

The tool is effective because the tool/resource connects with students’ prior knowledge of the topic. Educators can use EdPuzzle as a way to post assess students knowledge on a topic they have discussed. The tool enhances learning because the students will be able to explore a topic in a way  impossible without technology (e.g., virtual tours of the Louver). In this case, without technology, the video wouldn’t be accessible to the students. This tool helps with engagement because students will pay closer attention to the topic. EdPuzzle allows educators to insert follow-up questions in order to make sure the student is listening and understanding the topic. This tool is efficient by saving students time. By the educator providing the topic ahead of time, this allows students to already receive a resource on the topic they will be learning.

Flipgrid carries effectiveness by allowing students to apply their knowledge of a concept. For example: if a teacher were to ask a student to present their knowledge on a subject using FlipGrid, the student can create a video expressing their understanding of a subject virtually. Flipgrid provides efficiency by helping students, teachers, and schools save money. Paper is used constantly around schools, and money can begin to become a problem. Allowing teachers to still reach their goals for their students, but in a virtual setting can help maintain a budget. For example: instead of writing a summary of what a student learned, they could have the option of making a summary video. Flipgrid enhances the learning process by allowing students to engage within the classroom at any location and time. For example: group projects can be done through flipgrid by each student explaining their contribution within a project in a 1 min video. Flipgrid encourages engagement by allowing students to collaborate in teams to solve problems.

Kahoot showcases effectiveness by the following two: 1) This tool/resource connects with students’ prior knowledge of the topic, and 2) By using this tool/resource, the students will be able to apply their knowledge of a concept.  Kahoot provides efficiency by allowing the educator to save time when creating a lesson plan. This resource also allows the students to have quick access to the topic without having to do their own research. This tool enhances learning by allowing students the ability to engage within the activity at any time and place. This tool also encourages engagement by creating a space for students to be more engaged within the topic, and help students pay closer attention. An example of the previous statement would be competition. With “healthy” competitiveness, students will feel encouraged to perform to the best of their ability, while having fun with their peers. It provides an activity directly related to learning, and allows students to collaborate with their peers.

Nearpod is an excellent tool to use to teach a subject within a classroom setting. Nearpod provides effectiveness through the following: offers a variety of exercises to facilitate mastery of the targeted skills, and can be used with a variety of learners and ability levels. Nearpod provides efficiency through the following:  the teacher will save time preparing for a lesson (e.g.,  finding lesson plans online that will work, or can be edited for their needs), and the students will be able to engage in anytime/anywhere  collaboration with peers or others. Nearpod enhances a classroom setting through the following: students will be able to explore a topic in a way  impossible without technology, and  the students will be able to engage in anytime/anywhere  collaboration with peers or others. Nearpod provides engagement through the following:  the students will pay closer attention to the topic, and  has an interactive feature that is purposeful and directly related to learning. I would use Nearpod within my lessons because it provides an opportunity for students with different learning levels to engage and meet learning objectives. I would embody this tool within my online lesson by applying it to the explain phase. I would create a presentation that includes resources (i.e. websites, articles, images, videos) that help students reach the learning objectives, while being engaged within a classroom setting online.

This tool provides effectiveness by the following: 1) aligned with or designed to support a specific standard(s) and 2)by using this tool/resource, the students will be able to apply their knowledge of a concept. The tool provides efficiency by providing the opportunity for schools to save money. The tool doesn’t require a subscription, but I do recommend uploading a recording onto the website instead of recording on the website due to technical difficulties. The tool provides enhancement within lessons by representing the learning in a way  impossible without technology. By allowing students to listen to the audiation, they are able to access the lesson through a different perspective/lense impossible without technology. This tool provides engagement by having it directly related to learning. I would use this tool throughout the explain or reflect phase. I believe this tool is great to explain to students a lesson or to simply conclude it.

Professional Development Evaluation

Throughout the semester, I have improved tremendously within using my technology skills. Many of the evaluation questions asked, I had little to no experience with. After viewing the illustrations below, attending W200 has helped increase my understanding of various technology tools.
